What's Love Got to Do With It?

John 14:21-29

Love isn’t a Tina Turner song (hence the sermon title…). John 14 reveals that Jesus' statement about love and obedience isn't a conditional demand but a profound truth about agape love—God's holy, self-sacrificing love that differs from romantic (eros) or brotherly (philia) love. This divine love doesn't depend on our obedience; rather, our obedience flows naturally from experiencing God's grace. The Holy Spirit enables us to love with agape and produces obedience in us. When we fully invite Jesus into our hearts, we receive a peace that the world cannot give, allowing us to face life without being troubled or afraid.
